“Cowboy Blues: She broke my heart…and I miss her rabbit stew.” This collage uses the Starmer-designed cover of “San Antonio Song,” original sheet music by Harry Williams and Egbert VanAlstyne copyrighted in 1907. Part of the chorus serves as a backdrop for the “gal” who got away, pictured here as a huntress.

I LOVE this song! My dad had it on an old silver label record in the 70′s; I remember listening to it as a child-I STILL remember the chorus.
I’d love to hear Willie Nelson record this.
Obviously I do also, or I wouldn’t have the cowgirl as my gravatar. But I don’t think Willie is going to stumble across “San Antonio Song” here. Thanks for commenting.
